Karku

Hatched in a peaceful Tortle community on the banks of the river Chionthar, I was not interested in the simple agrarian life of my people. From early age I was fascinated by the motion of Selûne and her tears and had an intuitive sense of the unseen Weave. The clan elder recognized my talent and sent me to the tortle sage Thalassa Sky-Watcher who trained me in Wizardry at far away Candlekeep.

Upon completing my apprenticeship with my mentor, I settled into the role of ‘Archival Acolyte’ at the famous library. All this changed when filing a strange tome newly received at the keep — a mage’s coded diary (oddly unwarded by spells or traps). Dismissed by the senior exegete for lack of provenance it was left with me. Inexplicably compelled, I began to decipher it, eventually learning it belonged to someone with first initial “ᛗ”. This mysterious author was seemingly attempting to travel to a distant realm ‘encased’ by a ‘leaden’ or ‘hollow’ power. Fascinated, I obtained leave from my duties and chose to journey to Baldur’s Gate.

Inexplicably beset upon the road by a cauldron of great bats, I was seriously wounded and aided by a travelling cleric of Lathander, Sister Sunfall.  Taken to the temple of the Morning Lord in Baldur’s Gate to convalesce, I passed the time copying scrolls for the clergy and chatting with my new friend.
